STRAWBERRY-PEACH SMOOTHIE {NO ADDED SUGAR}

Smoothies are an easy way to work more healthy foods into your breakfast routine. This naturally sweet Strawberry-Peach Smoothie from Half the Sugar, All the Love is one of my favorites. Most commercially prepared smoothies contain a significant amount of added sugar, up to 10 teaspoons in some cases. You don’t need the added sugar if you use the right combination of flavorful fruits like ripe strawberries, sweet peaches or mangoes, juicy oranges, and refreshing pineapple. Bonus: those colorful fruits are a good source of vitamin C!

It’s generally a smart idea to keep your freezer stocked with frozen fruits and vegetables. I also like to have smoothie ingredients pre-portioned into grab-n-go containers, so all you need to do is pop the frozen fruit into the blender, add your milk of choice, and blend. Portioning out the ingredients is a fun activity for kids, too. Let your kids get creative with flavor combinations or challenge them to make the smoothie with the biggest boost of vitamin C. Game on!

STRAWBERRY-PEACH SMOOTHIE {NO ADDED SUGAR}

Makes 2 Servings (16 ounces each)

This riff on a classic strawberry-banana smoothie gets an extra boost of sweetness from peaches, so you don’t have to add the orange or apple juice that you find in commercial versions. Unsweetened cashew milk adds lovely creaminess here, but you can use low-fat dairy milk if you’d prefer.

Ours = 0 teaspoons added sugar
Theirs = 8 to 10 teaspoons added sugar

2 cups unsweetened cashew milk or low-fat milk
5 ounces frozen strawberries (about 1 cup)
5 ounces frozen peaches (about 1 cup)
1 large banana, peeled, frozen, and cut into 4 large chunks

Working in batches if necessary, combine the milk, strawberries, peaches, and banana in a blender and blend on high until smooth and creamy, about 1 minute. Serve immediately.
